The subject of the book is what we see on the horizon of our time, reflecting on knowledge and what is new in it. It is a “New Knowledge”, which takes its particular shape on the cast of a world in continuous metamorphosis, innervated by technologies, wrapped in networks. The man who works, the man who learns, the man who seeks is immersed every day in a multifaceted, kaleidoscopic reality, with facets that change almost at every clock beat. This was the focus of the authors, treating a variety of scenarios belonging to the man of the third millennium and highlighting the digital tools and skills that are needed to better learn, collaborate and know. A journey to scan the horizon to understand a future that comes quickly and surprisingly.

FORTUNATO SORRENTINO is an independent professional active in the field of Knowledge Technologies. He is a member of the Educational Technologies Laboratory of the University of Florence, where he carries out research and teaching activities. In addition, forty years of activity at multinational Information & Communication Technology companies has held roles in Business Consulting, Product Marketing Planning and Systems Architect, in the field of telecommunications and software systems. MARIA CHIARA PETTENATI is Research Director at INDIRE (National Institute of Documentation, Innovation and Educational Research) in Florence. Previously she was Program Manager for the ICON Foundation (International Center of Computational Neurophotonics, Florence), a non-profit research organization in neuroscience. PhD in Telematics and Information Society, from 1999 to 2011 she was a researcher at the Engineering Faculty of the University of Florence where, for over ten years, she taught systems technologies in the Master in e-learning techniques and methods.
