All aspects of the publishing service offered by the Firenze University Press hinge on digital technology and the use of the web, from experimentation and research through to editorial production and circulation. The Firenze University Press website, the electronic catalogue, the thematic portals and the electronic journals are tools for communication and circulation, in addition to functioning as a showcase for the publishing activities.
Publications are initially produced in digital format and made available online. Through the voluntary legal deposit of a non-modifiable version at the National Central Library of Florence (BNCF), this digital edition has full certification of authenticity for all scientific and academic purposes.
Conditions for access to the digital editions of the works are established in collaboration with the authors, aimed at conciliating the dissemination of academic output in accordance with the principles of Open Access and the safeguarding of the authors' rights and works.
To furnish a complete publishing service, while also meeting the needs of authors, readers and teaching requirements, in parallel with the electronic version Firenze University Press also produces the paper version, which is a specific edition to all intents and purposes. The use of digital technology makes it possible to tailor print-runs to the actual needs of the author and the market, generating a significant reduction in costs.
