Firenze University Press joins ScienceOpen

Firenze University Press (FUP) announces its entry into ScienceOpen, the global platform for the discovery and dissemination of scientific research. With over 1,700 books and more than 60 peer-reviewed journals now indexed in the FUP Books and FUP Journals collections, the academic output of FUP and USienaPress becomes part of an ecosystem that gathers more than 100 million publications, expanding the international visibility and impact of their works.

Global visibility and impact

The collaboration with ScienceOpen strengthens FUP’s role as a leading Open Access publisher and a promoter of innovation in scholarly communication. Thanks to enhanced metadata and contextual discovery tools, FUP publications engage with international research networks, reinforcing their dissemination and interdisciplinary impact.

An open and sustainable academic publisher

FUP, the open, non-profit publisher of the University of Florence, operates according to the principles of Open Science and of knowledge as a common good, reinvesting any surplus into its cultural and public-service mission. It promotes a transparent, fair, and sustainable publishing model that serves both the scientific community and civil society.

A collaborative model among University Presses

As part of a broader strategy of cooperation among Italian University Presses, FUP has launched a partnership with USiena Press as its first associated publisher. The initiative is based on the full editorial autonomy of each partner and on the sharing of infrastructures and expertise to enhance publicly funded scientific output.

An open and interdisciplinary catalogue

FUP’s publishing programme covers a wide range of disciplines, from the humanities and social sciences to technical and natural sciences, promoting the free circulation of knowledge and the dialogue between different research fields. The publishing house welcomes proposals from scholars, researchers, and institutions that share the principles of open access and the public responsibility of knowledge.

An open and connected publishing ecosystem

Through ScienceOpen and its participation in the Association of European University Presses (AEUP), FUP contributes to the development of European standards for data quality and interoperability, consolidating its role in the landscape of open academic publishing.

“Being included in ScienceOpen strengthens our mission to make research more accessible and visible at a global level,” states Firenze University Press. “We will continue fostering collaboration, transparency, and the public value of knowledge.”
